Centurion Lounge Access Policy: What You Need to Know

If you're planning to visit an Amex Centurion lounge, you'll need to depart from one of the US or international airports listed below. Unfortunately, there are currently no American Express Centurion lounge locations at any Canadian airports.

One thing to note is that visitors cannot pay for access; instead, they must hold an eligible American Express card. The American Express Centurion lounge network spans over 40 lounges across the United States and international airports.

Many Centurion lounges offer showers, making it a great option if you want to get cleaned up before your next flight. Additionally, you can add up to three additional users for $175 per year (each), and those additional cardholders will not have to pay for their entrance.

Visitors can expect to be wowed by complimentary top-tier food and beverage options, often including actual bartenders who can craft your favorite cocktail or one of the Centurion lounge's special cocktail offerings. Before planning your lounge visit, it's recommended that you call American Express to confirm any details.

For those who don't spend $75,000 per year on their card, there is an alternative paid option to add authorized users to their Platinum card. However, this option can take up to 12 weeks to post, so it's uncertain if a January spend would grant guest access. The spending policy is based on a calendar year, so you would have had to spend $75,000 in January or last year to qualify.

One exception is if you spent $75,000 last year and/or this year (2023), you will be entitled to bring free guests into the lounge. Children two but under 18 years old will have to pay $30, and everyone else will be required to pay $50 per person. Starting on February 1, children under two years of age can enter for free with a cardmember, while all other guests will be charged between $30 and $50, depending on their age.

As of February 1, the new policy states that a card member can no longer bring two complimentary guests into the lounge. This change only affects American Express Platinum and Platinum Business cardmembers, not Corporate Platinum or Centurion card members. The change only applies to guests entering the lounge with a cardmember.

This is a reminder of the changes announced last year about the guest policy for American Express Centurion Lounges, which becomes effective on February 1, 2023. With this new policy in place, it's essential to plan ahead and confirm any details before visiting an Amex Centurion lounge.
